American Style Magazine Names Fine Furnishings Show “Essential”

It’s the setting, history and range of crafts that make each show not just another event to attend, but an experience to share. Appreciate tradition juxtaposed with innovation. Enjoy. And if you make only one resolution this year, make it to attend craft fairs year round. So say the editors of American Style magazine in their annual guide to shows they consider essential to attend. We are proud that the Fine Furnishings & Fine Craft Show – Providence made their list!

Exhibitors in the News

furniture showWhitmore Boogaerts created a new studio out of a dilapidated manufacturing building in the West End of Providence, Rhode Island and got great press coverage for his Grand Opening on NBC-10 TV, Rhode Island Monthly magazine, Providence Business News, and Providence Journal.

Robbie Staples’ 9-drawer sideboard, made of Birdseye maple and ebony, will be featured in a upcoming issue of Fine Woodworking Magazine. And, for those of you on, or headed to the Cape this summer, check out his profile in the Spring addition of Cape Cod Life. Robbie says that seeing his work featured in national and local publications never gets old.

Peter Thompson was honored with the Outstanding Craftsmanship Award for his Walton NE side chair during the Maine Wood 2008 Exhibition at the Messler Gallery in Rockland Maine. He was also notified that his chair was selected by a panel at the Taunton Press to be included in a special issue of Fine Woodworking Magazine later on in 2008 dedicated to contemporary design.

Michael Doerr was extensively featured as “Chair Man of the Boards” in Issue 195 of the eZine published by Woodworker’s Journal.
