Exciting New Features Coming Up at Milwaukee Show Fine Crafts From Across North America
Visitors to the 2nd Annual Fine Furnishings & Fine Craft Show – Milwaukee, taking place on September 29 & 30 at the Midwest Airlines Center, will have plenty of interesting new features to explore. One of the most exciting additions is the entirely new fine craft section where dozens of artisans from across North America will present fine handcrafted jewelry, wearables, glass, ceramics, and much more.
More Furniture Makers
There will also be many new furniture makers at the show. There are too many to feature them all here, but among them will be Gary David of Galena, Illinois with his Arts and Crafts designs. Mark Whitley of Smiths Grove, Kentucky will feature heirloom quality pieces. Earl Walker, Jr. of Leadville, Colorado will show his one-of-a-kind multi-media work. Thomas Skaggs won a national NICHE award for a piece that incorporated turned wood. Coming all the way from Napa, California is Jonathan Edie & Chanin Cook, whose furniture designs of metal, wood, and stone unite simple forms and striking materials.
Design Vignettes from ASID-WI
Professional designers from the Wisconsin Chapter of the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) will set up showcase rooms utilizing exhibitor work to illustrate how the exquisite handcrafted goods available at the show can be incorporated into anyone’s home.
Frank Lloyd Wright Inspired Work
Many of the show exhibitors have been influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright and now the Taliesin Bookstore will offer a wide variety of high-quality furniture, lighting, pottery, home furnishings, art objects, and books designed or inspired by America's most influential architect. All purchases directly support the preservation of Frank Lloyd Wright's Wisconsin home, Taliesin.
The Artful Home – Author Book Signing
An exciting new book on craft will be making its debut at the show. THE ARTFUL HOME: Using Art & Craft to Create Living Spaces You’ll Love shows the reader how to create a warm and expressive environment by thinking like an artist and envisioning their home as a canvas for displaying beautiful things. Toni Sikes, the book’s author and founder and CEO of The Guild, Inc., the country’s leading online retailer of original art and fine craft items, will conduct a personal book signing session on Saturday between 1 and 2 pm. Throughout this beautifully illustrated book Sikes takes the reader on a room-by-room tour, detailing how to think about the artistic possibilities they offer.
