2008 Fine Furnishings & Fine Craft Show - MILWAUKEE

PRODUCT CATEGORIES
Furniture - Traditional

DESCRIPTION
I draw on Louisiana's unique Colonial heritage with its French, Spanish, Anglo and Native American influences as inspiration for my designs. Using native woods I create furniture that brings beauty and utility to peoples' lives. By using time honored traditional joinery I have created pieces that have survived floods , fires and hurricanes . With normal use this furniture should last generations as the original Creole and Acadian antiques have lasted. This style was predominant throughout the Mississippi River Valley and its tributaries when Louisiana went from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada. So many people have Louisiana roots today without knowing it.
Many of my clients want our peices to blend with their antiques so I offer a look of neglected elegance with or without distressing. The finish that I use is hand rubbed oil and wax as well as decorative painted gold-leaf finishes.
I am currently using trees felled by Hurricane Katrina milled at local saw mills as well as sinker logs being pulled from the lakes, rivers, bayous and salvaged material.
I am striving to maintain our unique Louisiana heritage and culture through these traditions.
